About Me

click to enlarge If you were going to climb a mountain, it would only make sense to hire someone who has already climbed it and not someone who has only studied it. Education is great but it’s no substitute for experience. This is where my Clients take advantage of my real life experiences. When a Client say’s “ You don’t understand what I’m going through” I always reply, “Yes I do”. Six years ago I was 65 lbs overweight. My resting heart rate was 86 beats per minute and my blood pressure was 145/90. I found every aspect of life difficult and I sometimes hated getting up in the morning. It took time to achieve my goals but I did and more importantly I have kept the weight off. I am currently in the best shape of my life and I’m constantly pushing my own envelope.

Why My Training Works

I employ Functional Training methods. Functional Training is an approach to fitness where exercises are developed that coordinate with everyday life. Conventional Training methods; on the other hand, provide people with exercises that will promote change. However, these methods do not always represent our daily activities i.e. walking, bending or sitting. An example of Conventional Training is a Leg Extension Machine. You sit down and push the weight by extended your lower leg straight up, using your knee as a hinge. This exercise will improve your Quadriceps but it’s a movement we never make in our daily lives and it’s detrimental to our knees. Throughout your day you are constantly performing multi-joint movements i.e. you bend over pick something up then stand again. My Functional Training focuses on core stabilization and kinetic chain movements. Core Stabilization is your abdominals ability to stabilize your body as you perform an exercise. Kinetic Chain movements are exercises that are done in a load bearing position. Your ability to squat, pick something up then return to a standing position, while keeping proper spinal alignment. I make everyday living easier and that’s why my training methods work.

click to enlargeLosing weight or becoming fitter is no easy challenge, but it’s only the beginning. You must have the desire to stay in shape (maintain the gain). This is where my teaching comes in. When my Clients train with me I focus on the job at hand i.e. losing weight, but I also educate them on how to maintain their gains. We all know someone who has lost weight only to gain it back. I have struggled with many plateaus over the years, but I know what it takes to get over them. When you become serious about making changes I can help.
